Hailing from the Newcastle region NSW, Brittany Ferns has long gravitated toward the landscapes of her surroundings. Idyllic seascapes and harmonious pastel palettes contrasted against images of exotic nostalgia - bananas, sombreros, hibiscus, and swaying palms. Drawing inspiration from her travels across Mexico and Guatemala with her young family, Ferns' work has evolved to reflect a new period in her ocurve.
These series of works produced for Artist In Residence were painted while Ferns was traveling through San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. The colours of the city are pink, deep red, and yellow which inspired the palette of this collection.
All 4 artworks from the series are designed to either be purchased as a trio or to sit individually.
Artists In Residence: a collaborative programme established to support like-minded creatives inviting seven hand-selected Australian artists to create bespoke artworks to be presented in the brand’s signature Bello Frame. Co-founders Jade & Danielle explain “Each of the artists we selected to work with, have a unique style and each tells a different story through their work. We are never formulaic, template, or predictable. Rather, we like to embrace imagination, innovation, and originality, which each of these artists represents to us. Our brand was built to not only support our own creative pursuits but to also support others in this space.” All pieces are exclusive to Merci Maison.
