Merci Maison

For every woman who makes a home.

As an Interior Designer, Chloe Matters has spent her career designing spaces that make people feel something. Her work is tonal, considered, calm and deeply intentional. As the founder of Matters + Made and mother to Mimi and Oscar, she knows better than most what a home is really for.

We invited Chloe and her children to sit with us on the Vittoria Sofa as part of our Mother's Day campaign, a celebration of every mother, grandmother, daughter and woman who has shaped us. What she said stopped everyone on set.

What do you hope your kids remember about growing up in your home?
For me, it’s about the feeling. I hope they remember it as a nurturing, safe space, somewhere they can walk into and instantly feel calm, where their nervous systems can fully relax. A creative, warm and calming environment.

How do you balance a home that looks beautiful and actually survives two kids?
It takes a really good cleaner and smart storage. It’s also about making the kids aware that it’s their environment too, helping them understand what visual noise is and how it makes them feel. It becomes a shared effort.

Is the sofa the most important piece in a family home?
Apart from the kitchen, yes. The sofa is probably the second most important. It’s where you gather, cuddle, recoup and recover, that warm hug at the end of the day.
